Paul Goble Papers 1969-1989.

Paul Goble has materials for 13 titles in the collection, including both manuscript and illustrative production materials. Manuscript materials include holographs, various states of typescripts, proofs, correspondence, and notes. Illustrative materials include sketches, dummies, and studies in several media but chiefly pencil, ink and watercolor. Between 1969 and 1974 Goble wrote 4 titles with his first wife, Dorothy Goble, although Paul Goble was the sole illustrator of those books; all four are represented in the CLRC collection.

Paul Goble was born September 27, 1933, in Haslemere, Surrey, England. His interest in Native American legends began when he was a small boy in England, where his mother read the books of Grey Owl and Ernest Thompson Seton to her sons. After training at the Central School of Art and Design in London, Goble worked in industrial design for 18 years before becoming a full time author and illustrator of children's books.
